The world is full of new friends.

The pedals on this page are one-off builds. Some may be available for sale, others I’m keeping for myself.

Bearhug FET Compressor

Classic DIY design by Jon Patton

First (and so far only) compressor in my collection. Still haven’t really figured out what I would want to compress… but I love the way this one looks.

Black Forest

BAT Black Forest overdrive/fuzz clone

Built on stripboard out of curiosity.

Blue Fuzz

Modded MXR Blue Box

One of my early adaptations, modded for octave selection and expression control of the Blend knob. This one hasn’t made it into full production yet, but it might someday.

Bosstone

Jordan Bosstone clone

One of about a dozen fuzzes I built on stripboard while developing the Found Object.

Clari(not)

Modded Mid-Fi Clari(not)

Built on stripboard with fuzz lift mod for warped-out clean sounds.

Copper fOXX

fOXX Tone Machine clone

Built one as a gift for a friend, loved it enough to build another for myself.

Crimson Alpaca

Modded Way Huge Red Llama

Added two clipping options: single-MOSET asymmetric clipping and symmetric LED clipping. Those eyes…

Fuzz Face

Silicon Fuzz Face (2N2222)

I built this as a pandemic lockdown project with my then-five-year-old daughter, gifted it to a friend because I don’t need another Fuzz Face.

Gray Area

Modded DOD Overdrive Preamp 250

I wanted a quick build to test out labeling pedals with adhesive vinyl, and I had been curious about clipping options. I modded this 250 with seven different symmetric and asymmetric clipping options.

HaRD

Zvex SHO clone

Another circuit I tried while developing the Found Object.

Gene Genie

Modified Harmonic Percolator clone

Added a “Clip” switch that removes the clipping diodes for unrestricted (and deliciously loud) power. Like a touch-sensitive overdrive at low settings and fuzz insanity when it’s dimed.

Major Tom

Custom dual expression pedal

The EQD Interstellar Orbiter has two expression inputs, Rate and Frequency, with different and unusual resistance requirements. I build this into a Crybaby enclosure using a dual pot so it could control one or both inputs. It’s a bit fragile because the double pot isn’t as rugged as a standard wah pot, but it gets the job done :)

More

Germanium Rangemaster

Built as a gift for a friend who owns an AC-30.

Oxford DRive

Nobels ODR-1 clone

Watching That Pedal Show’s episode on the ODR-1 made me curious to try it, and it didn’t disappoint – built on stripboard, it’s my new desert-island OD pedal. The fabric covering was another technique I wanted to try after seeing it in several Reddit posts, and using an old dress shirt provided the name.

Villanous, Low Oath

BAT Oath clone

Another Found Object test build – this one made it into the final design.

Saturn Five

Dragonfly Saturn Five

Another DIY classic, one half of the final Found Object.

Sparkle Boost

Dragonfly Sparkle Boost

Classic DIY boost pedal, one of the Found Object trials.

Superbolt

JHS Superbolt clone

Pandemic lockdown project for my then-eight-year-old son, who did all the artwork by hand.

Tchula

Lovepedal Tchula clone

I like this as an always-on pedal; it was my first mini-size build.
